Hooke's Law

This experiment uses weights to stretch a long wire. The wire is connected to a pointer on a degree scale by a pulley which increases the accuracy with which the extension can be measured.  As the wire stretches the pointer gives a reading on the scale.   The force can then be plotted against the extension which yields a straight line confirming the Hooke's law.  The stress and strain can also be derived in order to calculate Young's modulus.
