Measuring the Speed of Water Ripples

This experiment shows how the speed of water waves in a ripple tank can be measured.  A signal generator connected to a plunger is used to create waves in the tank.  A strobe light is used to make the waves appear to be stationary which allows their wavelength to be measured, this in turn allows the speed to be calculated.
